Spring is in the air and we are working on some fresh recordings, starting with "Wave me from the Broomielaw", which has become a favourite in our live set.

We're back playing regularly at the folk sessions at Uisge Beatha (now called "Dram!" but I like the old name better!).

Our band was invited back to play at the Siamsoir dancers St Patricks Day event in Edinburgh and it was a great night to be part of.

We plan to attend a number of festivals in the summer. The first on the calendar to watch out for us at is Moniaive where we'll be sure to be playing a few sessions.

Here we are at the end of another year. 2010 has certainly been an interesting one for us. We've focused more on playing in sessions and festivals this year, including becoming fairly regular players at the Uisge Beatha sessions on a Sunday night.

We made it along to a number of festivals in the summer, a highlight being Moniaive in the Borders where we met Kath who we swiftly recruited to play fiddle with us.

We've played some great gigs with acts such as Vivien Scotstoun, Alistair Ogilvy, and the Hellfire Club and are looking forward to laying down some new recordings over the winter. Hopefully see you soon.

Can't believe its nearly May already. How did that happen. Had a nice gig at Jinty McGinty's on Easter Day, enabling us to celebrate this important religious festival through the medium of song and whisky. Also enjoyed playing a few songs up in Perthshire at the Glenfarg Folk Festival in glorious sunshine this weekend past. Nothing like being able to sing and strum outside. Just doesn't happen enough in Scotland. We've lots of wee gigs happening over the next month so we are keeping busy. Next weekend we've been asked to perform live on Celtic Music Radio again so looking forward to that. Anyway, keep an eye on our Myspace as thats usually updated more regularly than every 4 months.

Happy New Year! The start of a new year always brings resolutions. Ours, well one of ours is to make more of a concerted effort to get our music out there. I guess we've made a start with our first forays into the world of radio!

We were delighted back in November to be played on the Australian airwaves. Our song Torch featured on Sideways through Sound on Sydney's 2SER channel (on the 17th November show about halfway through). Our friend Andy Quinn also played it about a month beforehand on his show on Celtic Music Radio.

We were really chuffed to be chosen to play on the Danny Kyle Open Stage as part of Glasgow's excellent Celtic Connections Festival. This was one of the biggest crowds we've played to so far, and we felt it went well. This was also broadcast live on Celtic Music Radio. We're on first and Craig does a wee interview aswell.

We've a few performances coming up - check out the gigs section to find out more.

Been a while! This year is flying past. We've been having a more chilled out year gig-wise, but we've been enjoying working on new material and thinking more about how the songs sound when they're recorded.

We played at Linen 1908 for the first time this week. It's a nice venue and the crowd seemed to like what they heard, or maybe they were just very polite. Anyway, we've been invited back there later in the year. In the meantime we are playing Brel in about a month, so looking forward to that.

Jo has been asked to sing at the weddings of two close friends so is currently rehearsing "My Love is Like a Red Red Rose" at the expense of all other songs and activities in general apart from Olympics on the playstation. Craig passed his grade 6 piano, sorry, guitar exam (though that would have been impressive since he's pretty much at chopsticks level) with flying colours so well done Craig (note he is not the one writing this or that would sound a bit vain).

We had a very pleasant weekend in June playing out in the country at the Cowal ArtsFeast, alongside our friends Early Songs, Pete Shellard and Rick Redbeard (though he's technically family so doesn't really count as a friend, anyway... ). It was a lovely event in a beautiful part of the world so hope it becomes a regular fixture for Glendaruel.

Finally, should also mention we were delighted to be part of a fundraising event in aid of Leukemia Care at CCA, mentioned in previous post. We were happy to hear that the event raised over £1000 for the charity and wish organiser Anna Sadler all the best with her continued efforts, notably with her planned trek in the Himalayas.

Goodness, I am rubbish at keeping this up to date. Things have been pretty quiet gig-wise but we're still making our own lot of noise. We've been making recordings of some really old stuff ( including one song that Jo started writing when she was about 17 which is a fairly long time ago though she doesn't like to admit it) . We've also been penning some brand new songs on a diversity of themes in between getting distracted by things like working/ eating and attempting to cover Iron Maiden songs whenever we do get together to practice. So hopefully we'll get some of that up here soon (the new stuff, not Maiden covers though perhaps that's an idea!). Some lovely wee gigs coming up. Looking forward to a trip out to Glendaruel on the Cowal Peninsula, going back to the Free Candy Sessions, and playing a charity gig in July along with with a pile of talented museum employees, which might seem random if Jo didn't work in a museum. Maybe it just is a bit random, but should be good all the same!

Happy New Year! Yes, I realise it is a bit belated ( I noticed today that they're already starting to advertise creme eggs) but I shall say it all the same. You'll have noticed we have had a wee break from gigging over the last few festive, wintry months, but we haven't stopped. We've been tinkering away behind the scenes in the cosy world of home recording. But now we're just about ready to brave the cold and venture out for our first 2008 gig. Its at the Quiet Riot at Canvas on Sauchiehall St. on the 14th. This should ring a bell as also being Valentines day, so if you don't have a hot date, or even if you do, why not come along!

Wow- there are so many good Elvis songs! We need to choose three to sing at MacSorley's Elvis night and it is not easy! These tribute nights are certainly increasing our repertoire- we've already had Kris Kristofferson and the recent Johnny Cash night so your guess is as good as ours what will be next. Other recent gigs have gone well although Jo has had a sore throat (awww) so its just as well she has a few weeks to recover for our next load of gigs. In the meantime we are doing some writing and recording, so should get some new songs up for you soon.

The last few weeks have seen us returning to our most regular haunts, MacSorley's and the Liquid Ship. Both were really enjoyable nights. To read a review (our first ever!) of the MacSorley's gig, click here and of the Liquid Ship here. There's a lot coming up though. We are particularly looking forward to the Johnny Cash night, but also to Tchai Ovna and to playing some venues that are new to us.

August was kind of quiet for us gig-wise although we were delighted to be asked to record a version of the Paul Metzers song "Farewell to the Gold" for a radio documentary about gold panning in Scotland. We both enjoyed learning a new song and working on this project and hope that the programme will go out on the air at some point in the future. The start of September saw Jo taking to the stage at the Connect Festival singing backing for Rick Redbeard. She'll also be singing with him at the ABC supporting the John Butler Trio. Anyway, better get practising as there's loads coming up!

15 Jul 07
Played the Butterfly and Pig for the first time in a while last Sunday and hoping to play again there next month, when hopefully there'll be a larger audience!

June was a good month for us with acoustic sets at the Free Candy sessions and MacSorleys. Jo has just bought an Mbox 2 so hopefully get some more recordings up soon. She is also rehearsing for Connect Festival where she'll be performing with Rick Redbeard.
